The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a robbery suspect whose image was caught on surveillance video in early October. The man got away with an undisclosed amount of cash from a Deltona hotel clerk after implying he had a gun. Investigators have released surveillance video from the robbery along with a still photo of the suspect. They are hoping that the images and a reward of up to $1,000 will help solve this case.

The robbery happened October 4 at approximately 1 a.m. The 39-year-old clerk told deputies that a man walked into the lobby of the Best Western Hotel, 481 Deltona Blvd., and handed him a note. The note demanded that the clerk hand over money and threatened that a gun would be used if he didn’t comply. The clerk gave the robber an undisclosed amount of cash and the robber then fled.

The robber was described as a Hispanic man in his early to mid 20's, 5’8” tall and weighing about 190 pounds. He wore a blue baseball cap, white shirt and jeans. He had fled from the hotel parking lot in a late model, four-door, white car.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Investigator Ryan Mills at (386) 860-7030 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida toll-free at 1-888-277-TIPS. Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.

Copies of the computer CD with the video on it are available at the Sheriff’s Office’s Public Information Office in DeLand. Please call ahead at 386-736-5959 to arrange for pickup.
