On Sep 9th, at 6:11 a.m., 30 yr old Shariema Smith was riding her bicycle to work on S.R. 44, in the 1700 block of SR 44 in New Smyrna Beach, when she was struck by small blue truck. The driver, an unidentified white male, of small build, stopped briefly, and spoke with Smith, who asked the suspect to call for help. The suspect did NOT call for help, instead, removing Smith's bicycle from under his truck, and then fled the scene. Smith was able to pull herself up onto the median, and call for help. Smith has suffered multiple injuries, including a broken neck and shattered pelvis, and remains hospitalized.

The suspect's small blue truck may have a cracked or smashed windshield or side window.

New Smyrna Beach Police Department is investigating this crime.
